WHO DID WHAT,
WITH WHICH AND TO WHOM The above full page ad appeared in the
June 15, 2005, Sparks Centennial edition of the Daily
Sparks Tribune. The central photo has never been published as far
as anyone knows. It was found in a photo album acquired at an estate
sale and shows Sparks before there was a Sparks. The railroad tie jutting
out into the middle of the dirt street was used as a walkway for mounting
horses or alighting into a wagon or horseless carriage without getting
one's boots muddy. It is the oldest photo of the forming city published
in conjunction with the centennial by either local newspapers or the
centennial committee. All information and speculation about the photo
will be most welcome. Composition for the above was performed by Max
Good Design; copywriting and research by Andrew Barbano/Deciding Factors-UNews.
