Aug. 2012-Aug. 2013: the Barbwire's Silver Anniversary Year
Barbwire by Barbano moved to Nevada's Daily Sparks Tribune on Aug. 12, 1988, and has originated in them parts ever since.
Whom to blame: How a hall-of-famer's hunch birthed the Barbwire in August of 1987

Rosy the poll dancer's destructive seduction
Barbwire by Barbano / Expanded from the 6-20-2013 Sparks Tribune

Everybody knows the dice are loaded.
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed.
Everybody knows the war is over.
Everybody knows the good guys lost.
Everybody knows the fight was fixed.
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich.
That's how it goes. Everybody knows.

Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
   What everybody knows.

If Reform Fails: Health Care, Jobs and Unions — new power to the people on the public airwaves

The program premiers were available to every television set in the region because of a high-mileage media hybrid.

The shows appeared on both commercial and community stations. The non-corporate entity produced the events, commercial TV greatly expanded distribution.

Thus began an ongoing series of sane public interest programs which generate both entertaining heat and more than a little light.

Please spread the word and consider contributing to the cause online at ReSurge.TV.

You may also take the public option known as the U.S. Postal Service and send a check or money order to ReSurge.TV, P.O. Box 10034, Reno NV 89510.

Your contribution will help fund the distribution as well as ongoing efforts at developing new media, including a regional, non-corporate community radio station and the return of community television to Reno-Sparks-Washoe.

You are present at the creation of what I hope can become a new media model where the programming accurately reflects what's happening on the ground and the media impact is powerful enough to forcefully pass the message upward.

Thanks.

Be well. Raise hell.

Andrew

HAT TRICK: Barbwire wins 3rd straight Nevada Press Association First-Place Award

WE WON: BIG NEWS FROM THE NEVADA PRESS ASSOCIATION CONFAB IN GOMORRAH SOUTH

Even they who haven't bedded her become transfixed by her ululating, undulating, gyrating gesticulating.

That skin, those moves, her tongue, the lips, that face.

For weeks now, the righteous of right have been frozen in place by her heat.

Possessed, inert, catatonic, unable to break her spell, indifferent to their obligations to provide for their families.

Rosy has always been such a horrific homewrecker.

I've watched them follow her as she descended on the pole, slithered down to the floor, snaked her way out the door, leaving them lusting for more.

Miss Rosy Scenario has always had that effect on the wishful.

Since the Nevada Legislature adjourned earlier this month, I've witnessed non-stop homáge to raunchy Rosy.

She is the principal reason that the teachers' education tax petition will fail next year at that other kind of pole.

The 2013 session was called "collegial," a term more suitable for a wax museum or the Sistine Chapel.

The sausage-making was dubbed harmonious and respectful.

Leaders of both parties reached across the aisle so often that they risked dislocating their collective shoulders.

To hear them and Gov. Veto El Obtúse tell it, untold millions were shunted toward schools.

The economy is getting better.

Nevada is on the way back.

The education establishment couldn't wait to jump aboard.

Haven't you heard?

Student achievement has been rising despite the slumping and slicing of the stingiest school spending in the nation.

Nevada is close to conservative Nirvana, taxophobic Valhalla.

Let's all go down to Topless Rosy's and celebrate!

Don't even hint that all that taxpayer money, staff time and lawmaker effort produced zilch in a zootsuit.

Don't whisper that all they did was grunt thru the easier stuff while ignoring the 800-pound gorilla sitting on the coffee table.

Sure, this or that secondary piece of legislation passed.

Lawmakers as always were allowed to parcel out crumbs that fell on the carpets of the upper crust.

We remain the High Desert Plantation.

Fewer than one in five of our high school graduates who take military entrance exams can pass.

Not qualified to get shot.

At a time when the warrior class is even accepting convicts, that's pretty embarrassing.

But Nevada stopped blushing decades ago.

At the polls next year, people will favor the words of all those public officials, bureaucrats and hangers-on who insist that all is well and thus no need to add serious money to education and other questionable public services.

Most houses never catch fire.

Rosy rules.

WHAT'S NEXT. The education initiative will crash either at the polls or in court.

The only remaining option will be major litigation against the state for failing in its Constitutional duty to provide for a system of education.
