On October 13, 1906, J.V. McCormick, W.H. McNulty, George K. Briggs, James Gallagher, J.E. Austin, R.H. Buncel, F.J. Donohue, J.B. Oswald, H.F. Longworth, J.G. O'Neil and W.D. Reed* were initiated as the charter members of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 350.

We think it's high time for a progress report
and we've found just the appropriate date.

*Brother Reed was initiated on Jan. 9, 1907, but is considered a charter member since the practice at that time included all members initiated during a six-month period following issuance of the union charter. All objections will be duly considered and dismissed as untimely filed.

PRESENTING THE UA LOCAL 350 CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AND COMMEMORATIVE PUBLICATION

FROM: Bob Lopes, Business Manager, UA Local 350/AFL-CIO

RE: UA Local 350 100th Anniversary Celebration and Centennial History Book

We are proud to announce that the UA 350 Centennial Dinner commemorating the 100th anniversary of our founding will take place on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Peppermill Hotel-Casino in Reno.

As part of the celebration, we will publish a commemorative program. Our union's records are intact and we have found some historical gems, such as the 1927 Reno Chamber of Commerce publication noting that "there is labor peace in Reno…all trades in Reno are on a union basis."

The centennial book will be distributed not only to attendees and unions, but also to educational and historical institutions. We hope that it may serve as the basis for the as-yet unwritten comprehensive history of organized labor in Nevada.

Any and all historical items, photos and remembrances are most welcome and will be considered for publication.

Should you want to place an ad in the UA 350 Centennial History Book, rates and deadlines may be found, below. Tables for eight may be reserved at $500 per table.

If you need accommodations, the Peppermill is holding a block of Friday/Saturday rooms for our attendees until September 12. Ask the hotel for the Local 350 group rate (group code LLOCAL6) when you call. The toll-free phone number is (800) 282-2444.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you in Reno this October.

In Solidarity,
